Service to Chestermere

Beginning August 30, for the first time ever, Calgary Transit will be providing fixed service to one of our neighbouring municipalities.

Over the past several months we’ve been working with the City of Chestermere on an agreement to offer service to the many Chestermere residents who commute into our city every day, while also providing Calgarians the ability to take transit to Chestermere. The service will be an extension of our MAX Purple route and will provide two round trips twice a day (two during the morning peak and two during the afternoon peak). These trips will see MAX Purple continuing its route past East Hills where it currently stops, and on to Chestermere.

We’re excited for the new service, as it will not only provide a service to our neighbours, but will have several benefits for Calgarians as well:

  • Reduced commuter congestion between Calgary and Chestermere
  • Reduced parking congestion downtown and at East Hills
  • Environmental benefits of having fewer vehicles on the roads
  • A connection for Calgarians to get to Chestermere
  • Added mobility options to benefit students and seniors living in Chestermere

For existing MAX Purple customers, there will be no changes to your stops, or to MAX Purple service in Calgary, so you can still get to all the same places on a MAX Purple - Chestermere bus.
