Union/Position: ATU 583/Established and Limited Term (up
to two years)
Compensation:
$28.49 - 30.18 - 31.89 per hour
HOURS OF WORK - This position works a standard 40 hour
work week. Positions required to wrok various shifts, locations,
and days off.
Business Unit Information:
Calgary Transit carries over 89
million customers each year. The organization plans, designs and
operates Calgary's public transportation system including a
growing fleet of buses, LRT network and accessible public
transportation for people with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Trades
Foreman, or assigned supervisor, this position involves skilled
journeyman shop, bench, and field production work in a
specialized unit or shift at any one of the three transit
garages. Work involves the repair and maintenance of buses and
heavy duty equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- perform all types of repair and maintenance of bus and heavy
duty equipment;
- requisition parts, materials, and equipment as needed;
- complete and signing fleet logs, work orders, serviceability
records, etc.;
- provide training and assistance to apprentices in unit;
- maintain order, cleanliness, work output, and safe working
conditions in own work area;
- assist unit foreman in checking and diagnosing mechanical
faults of incoming vehicles or related equipment;
- perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Applicant must possess a Province of Alberta Certificate of
Proficiency as a Truck and Transport or Heavy Duty Technician
and a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence with the ability to
obtain a City of Calgary Drivers Certificate. A "Q" endorsement
would be an asset.
Preference will be given to applicant possessing diesel bus
experience or a minimum of two years experience working in the
trade. A High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) will also
be considered an asset.

recognized as meeting the minimum qualifications.
